Low Consistency Pulping

Request Product Information

Low consistency and medium to high consistency pulping applies for most virgin pulp and brown grade Applications. Kadant's latest design using a D tub associated with the new generation raised Vokes rotor enables a significant reduction in size and in energy consumption. Kadant has over 1000 references, with several low consistency pulpers having capacities of over 1000 metric tons per day.

Working Principle
Low consistency pulpers can be operated continuously or batch wise. The pulper rotor includes pumping vanes and deflaking vanes in order to create both a strong circulation of the stock and a powerful disintegration effect when the stock is in contact with the pulper rotor. The design of the bottom deflectors helps this action, and the short baffle (D shape of the tube) induces a very powerful vortex which attracts almost instantaneously the non defibered papers against the rotor.
Batch operation is generally promoted for virgin pulp in order to obtain uniform quality, taking into account changes in the fibre composition. For most secondary fibre Applications, the pulper is operated continuously in order to minimize sizing and optimize both capital and operation cost.
